Mr. Stavros Alogakos

Non- executive Director and Chairman

Stavros Alogakos is a Naval Architect and Marine Engineer with more than a decade of involvement in the shipping industry, progressing through port agency, marine engineering, technical management, fleet operations and executive management roles. He is actively involved in the day-to-day management of the Group’s shipping operations, combining executive responsibility with direct operational and technical oversight. His responsibilities include fleet performance monitoring, technical supervision, ISM/ISPS and HSQE compliance, PSC, Flag and Class surveys and inspections, as well as coordination relating to Malta Stock Exchange requirements. Stavros maintains a strong operational presence on board the Group’s vessels, supervising and coordinating cargo operations, technical matters, crew evaluation and crew guidance. He is also involved in chartering activities concerning both Group vessels and third-party tonnage. Stavros Alogakos held fleet management and technical superintendent positions, developing practical expertise in vessel maintenance, repairs, drydock planning, inspections, Class and Flag matters, spare parts procurement and operational follow-up. He holds DPA and CSO certifications, along with additional technical, construction and design-related certifications supporting his wider involvement in vessel management, inspections and technical operations. He is also a member of the Royal Institution of Naval Architects and the Society of Naval Architects and Marine Engineers. His profile combines technical shipping knowledge, operational execution, regulatory awareness and commercial involvement, supporting the Group’s shipping activities across both daily operations and long-term fleet performance.

Mr William Wait

Independent, non-executive Director

William Wait is a warranted accountant. Prior to his appointment as chairman of Malta Enterprise in July 2016, he held various senior executive roles including deputy chairman of Malta Enterprise, executive chairman of Water Services Corporation, executive chairman of Projects Malta Limited, group director and deputy CEO of the Toly Group. William also chaired the investment and audit committee of Malta Enterprise and presently serves as a director in various Maltese and foreign companies. William also fulfills the roles of Governor at the Lands Authority and Administrator of the Mriehel Enterprise Zone Foundation and acts as company secretary to several companies.

Dr Kris Balzan

Independent, non-executive Director

In 2000 Dr. Kris Balzan was conferred with a B.A. Legal & Humanistic Studies from the University of Malta and in 2001 obtained a Diploma of Notary Public. In 2003, he successfully completed his law course and was conferred with a Doctorate of Law. Simultaneously, in 2003 Kris pursued his studies further and graduated as a Master of Laws (LL.M) in International Maritime Law. In 2006 Kris continued to further his studies and obtained a Diploma in Canonical Marriage Cases, Jurisprudence and Procedure at the Metropolitan Tribunal of Malta. Throughout his fifteen-year legal practice, besides addressing maritime issues, Kris has extended his services to a wide variety of local and international clients operating in the commercial and civil sectors. His clients included, amongst others, a commercial bank.

Dr Katia Cachia

Company secretary and compliance officer

Katia read for her Law degree at the University of Malta and was conferred a Bachelor of Laws with European Studies in 2011, a Diploma of Notary Public in 2012, and a Doctorate of Laws in 2014, after having successfully completed an ERASMUS programme at Tor Vergata University in Rome, Italy in the same year. Katia then furthered her studies and has obtained her IFSP Foundation Certificate in Trusts Law and Management in 2016. She then went on to complete and obtain the Malta Institute of Taxation Foundation Certificate in 2017. Katia forms part of a local firm’s corporate department and assists local and international clients in corporate matters. She often assists in international commercial and financial transactions, mergers and acquisitions, the drafting and negotiation of corporate related matters and trusts and foundations.

Mr Emmanouil Kalamaras

CEO

Emmanouil Kalamaras has over 10 years’ experience in ship management companies, having served as president and manager of a shipping company, which handled a fleet of bulkers, reefers and multipurpose vessels. In 2011, Emmanouil founded Damask Investment Limited, the Group’s trading company which trades in animal feed, fulfilling the role of Chief Executive Officer since inception. He is heavily involved in the day-to-day operations of the Group.
